It’s game day!
It’s finally opening day for the Women’s Professional Baseball League!!
WPBL Basics: This league marks the first time since the All-American Girls Professional League, aka the inspiration for “A League of Their Own,” as a place for women to play baseball. There are four teams - LA Queens, Boston Hunters, NYC Heights, and San Francisco Firebells. Each time is named after a badass historical woman.
LA Queens: Since Chicago didn’t get a team, I picked the LA Queens as the team to root for. I picked LA after the names, logos, and history dropped. You can check out my TikTok for my logic. Added plus is Mo’ne Davis is on the team.
Location: While Chicago didn’t land a team, Illinois did land the entire season. To save money on the inaugural season, the WPBL will be playing in Springfield!
Managers: Former MLB veterans Keith Foulke (Boston), Matt Williams (San Fran), and Eric Young (LA), alongside renowned women's baseball trailblazer Rachelle "Rocky" Henley (NYC) will be at the helm.
Captains: The WPBL Kelsie Whitmore (San Francisco Firebells), Denae Benites (New York Heights), Alli Schroder (Boston Hunters) and Ashton Lansdell (Los Angeles Queens) to lead their teams both on and off the field.

The Sky: DiJonai Carrington provided the spark for an impressive win on Thursday. Today we take on the Aces. Let’s see how far the momentum will take us.
The Stars: It’s the Battle of the Basement as we take on last place Racing Louisville. So a win keeps us out of last place.
